About the project
A Home Between Two Cultures
Stephane House was designed for a French owner who developed a deep appreciation for the character and beauty of Oriental architecture. The brief was to create a home that could bring together two different cultural influences – Lanna culture and Western style – within one cohesive architectural expression.
The project explores how these influences can coexist in a contemporary home, creating a residence that reflects the owner’s personal connection to both Western and Asian cultures.
The location plays an equally important role in the design. Situated in the high area of Mae Ram, Mae Rim, the house enjoys an elevated position overlooking the surrounding rice fields and landscape.
This setting creates a powerful relationship between the architecture and its environment. The panoramic views become an important part of the residential experience, allowing the landscape of Northern Thailand to become a constant presence in everyday life.
The result is a home that brings together cultural identity and landscape, creating a place where Western living meets the architectural spirit of Lanna and where the beauty of Mae Rim becomes part of the experience of home.
