Sela Hotel Chiang Mai

Sela Hotel was designed around a clear ambition: to create a distinctive destination that would attract travelers to Nam Phare, an area surrounded by the natural beauty of Chiang Mai.

The key concept was to bring together two different architectural influences – Lanna culture and Western architecture – and create a contemporary hospitality experience from their meeting point.

Lanna culture provides a strong connection to the local identity and character of Northern Thailand, while Western architectural influences introduce a different architectural language. Together, these elements form the foundation for a hotel that seeks to feel both connected to its location and distinctive in its own right.

The project was envisioned as the “Gem of Nam Phare” – a destination that could draw visitors beyond the more familiar tourist areas of Chiang Mai and encourage them to experience the natural character of the region.

Rather than simply providing accommodation, Sela Hotel aims to become part of the destination itself. Its architecture and hospitality experience work together to create a reason for travelers to discover Nam Phare, experience its surroundings, and appreciate a quieter side of Chiang Mai.
